They offer additional on-site facilities for their guests and visitors: restaurants, swimming pools, mini golf, bars, casinos, etc. Hotels labelled as 'boutique' often provide a number of additional guest services such as a restaurant, a swimming pool or childcare. Some hotels have conference services and encourage groups to hold conventions and meetings at their location.

Hotels range according to the variety of facilities offered. Basic accommodation includes a telephone, an alarm clock, a TV, air-conditioner, as well as a mini-bar (sometimes with a small refrigerator) containing snacks and drinks (to be paid for on departure), and tea and coffee making facilities.
