by air and by sea. You may choose the most convenient way for you.
Although there are no direct flights to the Turkish Republic of
Northern Cyprus, travelling to the northern part of the island is

Northern Cyprus from all international airports worldwide via Turkey.

As mentioned above, all the aircrafts flying to Turkish Cyprus
are to touch down in Turkey. Usually the stopover lasts for an hour,
and passengers remain in the aircraft, however sometimes the airline
company changes the aircraft. In this case passengers are required
to wait in the transit lounge and obtain a boarding pass of their
ongoing flight to Northern Cyprus. It will take you approximately
an hour to get from Turkey to North Cyprus.
If you travel by sea, the voyage may take you from 2.5 to 10 hours.
Ferry-boats and sea-buses connect operate regularly between Kyrenia
and Famagusta, towns in Northern Cyprus, and Turkey.
Sea-busses are faster and travel between the island and Turkey almost
every day. Ferry boats can take more passengers and cargo, but go
slower. A trip by a ferry boat can take up to 4-10 hours. The sea
trips may be certainly not pleasant in winter.
By Air
Although there are no direct flights to the Turkish Republic
of Northern Cyprus from other countries (North Cyprus has direct
air links only with Turkey), travelling to the northern part of
the island is no longer a problem.
Cyprus Turkish Airlines (Kibris Türk Hava Yollari), Turkish
Airlines, Atlas Jet and Pegasus Airlines provide scheduled flights
to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus from all international
airports worldwide via Turkey. Besides, there are charter flights
to Turkish Cyprus.
As mentioned above, all the aircrafts flying to Turkish Cyprus are
to touch down in Turkey. They usually make stopovers in the airports
of Izmir, Istanbul, Ankara, Adana or Antalya. Usually the stopover
lasts for an hour, and passengers remain in the aircraft (Cyprus
Turkish Airlines). Sometimes the airline company changes the aircraft

scheduled flights from Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, Adana and Antalya.

North Cyprus by air takes sixty to ninety minutes.
While arriving in Northern Cyprus, all the planes descend at two
national airports of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus : generally
at Ercan Airport (situated near Nicosia), more rarely at Gecitkale
Airport ( Famagusta), as the latter is commonly used for military
purposes.

By Sea
Ferry-boats and sea-buses connect Northern Cyprus (Kyrenia and Famagusta)
with Turkey by the sea.
Kyrenia
There are scheduled sea-bus and ferry services from Tasucu (a port
city in Turkey, near Silifke) to Kyrenia, and back. The sea-busses
operate on a daily basis – the duration of the voyage is about
two and a half hours. Ferry boats between Tasucu and Kyrenia go
every week – the trip on a ferry boat takes about four hours.

Famagusta
You may also choose a ferry-boat operating between Mersin (a port
city in the south of Turkey) and Famagusta – three times a
week to get to North Cyprus By Sea. Ferry-boats also connect Tasucu
and Famagusta, but this voyage is longer lasting for eight hours.
Besides, there are sea trips between Latakia (a port in Syria) and
Famagusta.During the summer time sea trips are organised from Alanya,
Antalya and Anamur (Turkey) to Kyrenia.

Passports and Visas
All the foreign country passports are recognized at the
entrance ports and airports of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Greek Cypriots, Greek from Greece and citizen of Armenia should
have visa. Citizen of Nigeria, Philistine, Afghanistan, Libya, Armenia,
Greek and Greek Cypriots have to have visa, but if their people
comes to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as a tourist and if
they come as groups they don't need any visa. Also those who are
3. world citizens that are Greek, Greek Cypriot and Armenian have
to have visa. Visa applications can be done to Turkish Republic
of Northern Cyprus foreign representatives for the Nations that
mentioned above. If any citizen of a country that mentioned above
is married to a Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus citizen the
need of a visa is evaluated in a different manner and could be more
elastic. But this special condition is determined after the application
to the foreign representation of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
On the other hand, it is possible for the people from different
nations (except the ones mentioned above) who enter Turkey, to enter
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus freely as a tourist or with

Customs Regulations
1. Customs regulations while entering and leaving Turkish Republic
of Northern Cyprus Customs regulations shows similarity with the
developed European countries customs regulations in methodic and
basic. Any person who comes to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
in a certain place, time, and way, anything that he or she carries
on himself or herself in anything that he or she carries in the
luggage ;
a) Anything that was bought outside of Turkish Republic of Northern
Cyprus or
b) Any good that has commercial value tax unpaid or tax refunded
and
c) Anything or good that could not be carried before its tax paid;
has to be declared due the custom regulations. Any person who enters
or leaves Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has to answer any
question of the official clerk about his or her luggage or anything
that is carried on her or himself. At the same time the passengers
has to show any good in his or her luggage or anything that he or
she carries on himself or herself to the official clerk in a certain
place, time that the official clerk shows. But if the passenger
asks that he or she wants to be examined in a special place examination
can be carried out in a special place. According to customs regulations
if any person who refuses to give information and refuses to show
and declare the goods that he or she carries or keeps them in his
or her luggage commits law. Any good that depends on customs tax
or any other tax if not declared of hidden and found by the officials

Personal Belonging Depends on passenger's social condition. 4-Regulations
for entering Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus by a motor vehicle
While entering Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in last 2 years
the person who stayed and lived abroad more than 365 days and comes
to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus temporarily and is over 18
years old age (staying in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus should
not be more than 12 months) is considers as visitors. Persons that
did not stay abroad this much could be consider as visitors if they
declare and show all the documents proving that they live outside
of the country. While entering these people has to declare the cars
documents and has to make 3 months valid car insurance. 5-Other
important points Customs offices make examination while entering
or leaving Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus plus they carry out
other regulations of all different ministries during their examinations.

Health Regulations for Animals
1. Any kind of animal admission to the country needs preliminary
permission.
2. The veterinary office of the ministry of agriculture and forests
gives preliminary permission.
3. The conditions of preliminary permission depend on the species
of the animal. These conditions are told to animal owners by the
veterinary office.
4. According the law that is in force now the quarantine period
depends on the species and the origin country of the animal.
5. Carrying animals to the guarantee place and keeping them there
is paid by the animal owner.
6. Any kind of food that contains animal and biological products
needs preliminary permission to be imported if they are brought
by the passenger on himself.
Formalities for Private Yacht Owners
You can enter Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Yacht port if
you get preliminary permission or when you enter Kyrenia water.

Entering formalities to Kyrenia Marina for yacht owners:
-Getting in touch before entering marine
-After casting anchor passengers have to go on the immigration and
customs procedure.

Formalities for Private Plane Owners
ICAO (International Aviation) rules valid. Arrival to Turkish Republic
of Northern Cyprus international route is followed. Preliminary
flight and landing permission should be gotten from the officials.
Technical information for the plane, number of passengers has to
be declared during the time of permission application. There is
no validity of staying. On the information about civilian aviation
and ERCAN Government Airport can be obtained from civilian aviation
directorship.
